A New Dimension of Control

The versatile Joy-Con controllers offer numerous surprising gaming experiences. Two Joy-Con controllers can be used individually in each hand or together as one gaming controller using the Joy-Con grip. They can also be attached to the console in handheld mode or shared with a friend to enjoy two-player multiplayer fun in supported titles. Each Joy-Con has its own full set of buttons and can therefore be used as an independent controller, while also being equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscopic motion sensor, enabling independent right and left motion controls.

The Left Joy-Con also features a Capture button, allowing players to take instant screenshots of their gameplay with a single click and share them with friends via social networks. The Right Joy-Con includes an NFC point for interaction with amiibo figures as well as an IR motion camera capable of detecting distance, shapes, and movement of nearby objects in games specially designed for these features. For example, this function can determine how far away a player's hand is and what shape it's forming.

The Joy-Con controllers also feature advanced HD rumble functionality, which allows players to feel far more realistic vibration feedback than ever before in compatible games. This effect is so detailed that players can, for example, feel the vibrations of individual ice cubes inside a glass that the Joy-Con is simulating. Thanks to HD rumble, players will be able to experience a new level of realism, unachievable through sight and sound alone!
