A New Dimension of Control

The versatile Joy-Con will offer a variety of surprising gaming experiences. Two Joy-Con controllers can be used individually or together as a single game controller using the Joy-Con grip. They can also be connected to the console in handheld mode or shared with a friend for two-player multiplayer fun in supported titles. Each Joy-Con has its own full set of buttons and can therefore be used as a standalone controller, and is also equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscopic motion sensor, which allows for independent right and left motion control.

The left Joy-Con also features a Capture button that allows players to take instant screenshots of their gameplay with one click and share them with friends via social networks. The right Joy-Con, in turn, features an NFC point for interacting with amiibo figures, as well as an IR motion camera capable of detecting the distance, shape and movement of nearby objects in games specially designed for this function. For example, this function can determine how far away the player’s hand is and what shape it forms.

The Joy-Con also feature an advanced HD rumble feature that allows players to experience more realistic vibration feedback than ever before in compatible games. The effect is so detailed that players can, for example, feel the vibrations of individual ice cubes inside a glass that the Joy-Con is simulating. With HD rumble, players will be able to experience a new level of realism that is unattainable with just their eyes and ears!

Up to eight controllers can be connected wirelessly to a single Nintendo Switch console via Bluetooth. This can be any combination of Joy-Con and other controllers such as the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

The Joy-Con controllers can last up to 20 hours on a single charge and are recharged by reconnecting them to the Nintendo Switch console or by connecting them to the Nintendo Switch Charging Grip accessory.
