Palworld Official Card Game: Dawn of Palpagos — The Complete Guide

Pals have left the island. They're on cards now.

The Palworld Official Card Game launched worldwide on July 30, 2026 — and the numbers tell the story immediately: more than 3.5 million booster packs had already been sold worldwide before launch, showing enormous demand before a single pack reached players. No decades of nostalgia. No legacy brand. Just a community that was ready to buy physical cards before a single pack had shipped.

This is one of the fastest TCG launches in history. And the Dawn of Palpagos Booster Box is coming soon to Playpeak.

What Is the Palworld Official Card Game?

The Palworld Official Card Game — also known as the Palworld OCG or POCG — is a two-player competitive card game that translates the systems of the hit Palworld video game into a physical TCG. It was developed by Yuhodo Inc., published by Bushiroad (the studio behind Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz), and fully licensed by Pocketpair, the creators of the original video game.

Unlike many licensed card games that borrow a familiar name and staple it to a generic format, the Palworld TCG is built around the specific systems of the video game itself. Pals working at bases. Gear crafted for combat. Faction leaders turning the tide of play. This is Palworld translated into cards — not just Palworld art on a standard card game.

The game launched simultaneously in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese — making it immediately accessible to competitive players worldwide without the usual months-long wait between regional releases.

Why Is It Exploding Right Now?

The timing matters enormously.

Palworld 1.0 — the full game release — launched on July 10, 2026. Just 20 days before the card game. The full release brought nearly one million concurrent Steam players and reignited global interest in the franchise. Then the card game dropped two weeks later, straight into that wave of excitement.

Add to that: Palworld has attracted more than 40 million players across Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Mac since its Early Access launch in January 2024. That is an enormous built-in audience — millions of people who already love the Pals, know the lore, recognise Zoe and Lily, and have strong opinions about which Pal is their favourite.

When a card game is built around a franchise that passionate, with that much reach, the demand is immediate and real. That's why 3.5 million packs were already sold before many stores had even opened on release day.

The card market responded instantly. The rarest card in the set — the Cattiva Gold Soul card — sold on eBay for nearly $4,000 three days before the set officially launched. Since release, multiple cards have sold for over $1,000 on the secondary market. This is the kind of collector energy that only surrounds a TCG launch that genuinely matters.

What Makes the Palworld TCG Different

This is the question that matters for anyone deciding whether to invest time and money into a new card game.

The mechanics feel like the video game — because they are. Wargamer put it well: "Longtime Palworld players will instantly feel at home with the card game." The authenticity isn't incidental. The card game was specifically designed to recreate what makes Palworld fun on a tabletop. Three of the four card types directly mirror video game systems you already know:

Pal Cards send your creatures into direct combat — just like commanding Pals in battle in the game

Gear Cards equip your Pals with items that make them stronger — just like crafting gear to survive

Structure Cards assign your Pals to work at your base instead of fighting — just like the base-building automation that made Palworld unique

The fourth card type, Event Cards, features faction leaders like Zoe and Lily — temporarily swinging the tide of play in dramatic moments. These are the kinds of cards that create the memorable moments that keep players coming back.

The franchise has cultural cachet. Palworld wasn't just a hit — it was a cultural moment. It arrived in January 2024 as the game that dared to go in a new direction with monster-collecting, and the conversation around it reached far beyond the usual gaming audience. That cultural energy carries directly into collector demand for the card game.

Bushiroad knows how to build a TCG. This isn't a novelty product. Bushiroad built Cardfight!! Vanguard into a global competitive franchise from scratch. They run organized tournaments. They support their games long-term. The Palworld TCG already has a second set confirmed: Legends Awaken, releasing October 30, 2026 — just three months after Dawn of Palpagos. That kind of immediate follow-up signals serious long-term investment.

Getting in at launch matters for collectors. The first booster set of any successful TCG is historically the most valuable. The cards from Dawn of Palpagos are already trading at extraordinary prices on the secondary market — and the first copies of those cards that were pulled before release are already being treated as collector's items in their own right.

Dawn of Palpagos — What's in the Set?

Dawn of Palpagos (BP01) is the first booster set ever released for the Palworld Official Card Game. The confirmed set composition:

100 base set cards across four rarities:

  • RR — Double Rare (the highest standard rarity)
  • R — Rare
  • U — Uncommon
  • C — Common

61 Parallel variants — foil, special art, and Gold Soul versions of base set cards. The Cattiva Gold Soul is the absolute chase card of the set.

Over 50 different Pals from the Palworld universe, each with entirely original artwork commissioned specifically for the card game. None of this art has appeared in the video game.

Fan-favorite human characters — including Zoe Rayne and Lily Everhart—appear on Event cards as powerful plays that can swing a game's momentum.

How the Game Works

The Palworld OCG is a two-player competitive game. You choose up to two colors for your deck, add Colorless cards as flex picks, and build a 50-card Main Deck supported by a 10-card Soul Deck used for the game's unique secondary mechanic. Each player starts with 10 Life, and the objective is to reduce your opponent to 0 before they do the same to you.

Five colors define your strategy:

  • 🔴 Red — aggressive, high-power attacks, direct combat pressure. Rush your opponent before they can set up.
  • 🔵 Blue — reactive, control-oriented, disruption-focused. Slow the game down and outmanoeuvre your opponent.
  • 🟢 Green — resource management and strategic combinations. Build a long-term engine that outlasts your opponent.
  • 🟣 Purple — combo-driven strategies that reward planning ahead and precise sequencing.
  • Colorless — versatile cards usable in any deck regardless of color combination.

You can include up to four copies of any card by name. Deck construction decisions start at color selection — Red/Blue plays completely differently from Green/Purple, giving the game genuine replayability across different builds.

For official Bushiroad-sanctioned events outside the OCG territories (Japan, mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea), only English-edition Main Deck cards are tournament legal. If you plan to compete internationally, buy the English edition.

Booster Box — Contents Confirmed

Each Dawn of Palpagos Booster Box contains:

  • 12 booster packs
  • 7 cards per pack
  • 84 cards total

The booster box is fully compatible with both Dawn of Palpagos Trial Decks. Buy a Trial Deck to get a complete, ready-to-play deck — then crack open booster packs to upgrade and customize it immediately.

One important note: Trial Deck-exclusive cards cannot be found in booster boxes. If you want the full card pool, you need both.

The Trial Decks — Start Playing Immediately

Two Trial Decks launched on the same day as the booster box. Both will be available at Playpeak:

TD01: Dawn of Palpagos — Red/Blue Deck

Palworld TCG: TD01 — Dawn of Palpagos Red/Blue Deck

The aggressive color combination — built for players who want to hit hard and fast. Red brings raw power and direct combat pressure; Blue adds reactive disruption to protect your assault. If your instinct is to go on the offensive and overwhelm your opponent before they can set up, TD01 is your starting point.

Contents confirmed by the official Palworld card game product page:

  • 60 cards total: 50-card Main Deck + 10-card Soul Deck
  • 1 Dawn of Palpagos booster pack (BP01)
  • Paper Playmat & Play Guide
  • Life Counter
  • Material & Ingredient Counter
  • 1 parallel-rarity card — Trial Deck Super Rare (TSR) or Trial Deck Super Parallel (TSP), replacing one card from the 50-card Main Deck

All cards feature original illustrations created specifically for the Palworld TCG.

Note for TD01 buyers: The official Palworld card game site has identified a printing error on card ETD01-024TSR — the word "Strike" was omitted from the card text. Despite this, the card remains fully legal at all levels of competitive play including official sanctioned tournaments and functions as if the correct "Strike" text is present.

TD02: Dawn of Palpagos — Green/Purple Deck

Palworld TCG: TD02 — Dawn of Palpagos Green/Purple Deck

The tactical color combination — built for players who prefer to outthink rather than overpower. Green manages resources and builds long-term engines; Purple rewards precise sequencing and combo-driven strategies. If you enjoy planning several turns ahead and defeating opponents through superior strategy rather than brute force, TD02 is your starting point.

Contents confirmed by the official Palworld card game product page:

  • 60 cards total: 50-card Main Deck + 10-card Soul Deck
  • 1 Dawn of Palpagos booster pack (BP01)
  • Paper Playmat & Play Guide
  • Life Counter
  • Material & Ingredient Counter
  • 1 parallel-rarity card — Trial Deck Super Rare (TSR) or Trial Deck Super Parallel (TSP), replacing one card from the 50-card Main Deck

All cards feature original illustrations created specifically for the Palworld TCG.

Which Trial Deck Should You Choose?

Both decks are the same price and the same power level — the only difference is the Pals and cards inside. Pick the playstyle that matches how you like to play. If you're buying for two people to play together, one of each is the best value in the entire launch lineup — open both boxes and you're ready to play immediately with no additional purchases needed.

Important: Trial Deck cards are not included in Dawn of Palpagos booster packs. To collect the complete launch card pool, you'll need the Dawn of Palpagos booster set and both Trial Decks, since each Trial Deck contains its own unique cards.

What's Coming Next — Legends Awaken (October 30, 2026)

The second Palworld TCG set — Legends Awaken — is confirmed for release on October 30, 2026, just three months after Dawn of Palpagos. This timeline signals exactly the kind of long-term publisher commitment that separates serious TCG franchises from one-set novelties.

Cards from Legends Awaken will be compatible with Dawn of Palpagos, letting players expand and refine their decks as the game's strategy deepens. Getting into the Palworld TCG now means you'll be ahead of the curve when the second set drops.
